Catherine is a well known player in the health and medical litigation area having specialized in this area for almost 20 years: most of that time in Sydney. She has represented hundreds of individuals with claims against health and medical providers and has been involved in a number of very significant cases such as CES v Superclinics, Burnett v Kalokerinos, Walker v Bradley and, most recently, Brown v Simpson.

She has delivered many lectures and speeches to lawyers and community groups on health and medical law (click here for Catherine's publications). She has a Masters degree in Health Law from the University of Sydney and has lectured to students in the law and medicine schools at the University of Newcastle. Catherine was in 2008 appointed as a Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal.  

Catherine has been the President of the Newcastle Law Society for 5 consecutive terms and has been responsible for a number of new initiatives for the local legal profession during that time. She is a regular commentator on legal issues in the local Newcastle media.

Catherine is also involved in the wider Newcastle community having served in the past, and presently, on a number of community boards.

Whilst practising in Sydney, Catherine was the inaugural president of the NSW Branch of the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association (now Australian Lawyers Alliance), the nominee of the NSW Attorney-General on the Board of the NSW Legal Aid Commission and actively involved in the Women Lawyers Association of NSW.
