Lee will join King Street Lawyers in 2009 as a specialist family lawyer when she relocates from Canberra to Newcastle.
Lee has significant breadth and depth of expertise in family law, developed over 22 years of legal practice, as an advocate, a former Registrar of the family law courts, and as a legal policy adviser.
In her work as in-house Counsel with the Family Law Section of ACT Legal Aid, and as a private practitioner, Lee has dealt with many complex cases, and has been at the forefront of new and challenging areas of family law reform - including grandparents’ interests, child support, parentage issues, and complex financial matters.
As a former Principal Legal Officer with the Family Law Branch and Federal Courts Branch of the Federal Attorney General’s Department Lee was closely involved in advising Government and developing many important recent family law reforms, including family law and bankruptcy reforms, the Shared Parenting reforms, and the proposed De Facto Bill.
Click here for a copy of Lee’s recent article on the practical implications of the Family Law Amendment (De Facto Financial Matters and other Measures) Bill, which is expected to come into effect in early 2009.
Lee will be able to help those in the Newcastle region with their specialized family law needs on her move back to the area in 2009.
